PythonWatch - Early Detection and Rapid Response

The NAVI received $100,000 form the Office of Insular Affairs to assess and monitor invasions.


The PythonWatch program will map, detect, and provide community support for any potential detections of invasive species.

The Nature Association of the Virgin Islands (NAVI) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to enhancing the environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and overall well-being of communities in the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI). The leadership team consists of seasoned professionals who saw a need to fill in the community, and they bring extensive experience in project management, environmental science, public health, community engagement, and disaster preparedness to the project.

 

NAVI aims to provide local residents with the resources and knowledge needed to respond to and thrive beautifully alongside nature. This includes the implementation of sustainable energy systems, job training, and the establishment of critical nature-based infrastructure.
