A Territory-Wide Early Detection & Rapid Response Program of the Nature Association of the Virgin Islands (NAVI)


What Is Python Watch VI?

Python Watch VI is designed to prevent invasive pythons from becoming established in the Virgin Islands. The program integrates environmental DNA (eDNA) testing, structured monitoring, internal mapping, and coordinated response protocols. This system allows us to detect risk early, before ecological damage becomes visible and far more costly to manage.

The Nature Association of the Virgin Islands (NAVI) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to enhancing the environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and overall well-being of communities in the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI). The leadership team consists of seasoned professionals who saw a need to fill in the community, and they bring extensive experience in project management, environmental science, public health, community engagement, and disaster preparedness to the project.

 

NAVI aims to provide local residents with the resources and knowledge needed to respond to and thrive beautifully alongside nature. This includes the implementation of sustainable energy systems, job training, and the establishment of critical nature-based infrastructure.
